Mary Storrs Andersen

-Studied voice at University of Michigan and later went to Berlin to teach

-affiliated with the Gamma Chapter

-had 3 children

-Chicago is her home city

-Gamma Chapter made her a patroness

-her daughter Mrs. Horace Clark became a patroness member of Alpha Beta at University of Arizona

-wrote a letter dated April 1946 about her Beloved Fraternity

 

-Ann Arbor, Michigan was her birthplace

-lived on father's farm 

-both parents were musical and college-trained

-graduated from Univ. of Michigan School of Music with a BA Degree in Voice

-joined Music Faculty 1903-1909

-1st Vice President of Alpha Chapter

-National Presidency 1913-1914

-served in every office in Alpha Chapter and in the national organization

-member of National Executive Board as Chairman of Finance and Director of Finance from November 1932 until November 1948

Elizabeth A. Campbell

Frances Caspari

-born in Ann Arbor

-spent nine successful years in New York City

-helped organize Sigma Alpha Iota in 1903 and two years later graduated from the School of Music

-On Ann Arbor Day she was presented with Ring of Excellence

Nora Crane Hunt

-10 years as the Alumni Secretary of School of Music

-graduated from School of Music in 1903

-Contralto

-directed the University Glee Club for 25 years from1910-1935

-sang in the First Presbyterian church

-6 million dollar residence hall for women at the University of Michigan was named after her



Leila H. Farlin

-born in Lowell, Michigan

-graduated with Elizabeth Campbell

-National Treasurer from 1909-1910

-graduated in voice from University of Michigan School of Music in 1903

-formerly a student at the Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio

Georgina Potts

-brilliant pianist

-came from music family

-received Artists Diploma in piano from Univ of Michigan School of Music in 1903

-one of Toledo's finest piano teachers

-organist at Memorial Baptist Church in Toledo for 29 years

-hobbies were filling scrapbooks with poetry and historical items, literary and musical

-study French, German, Spanish, and Russian as a hobby

Minnie Davis Sherrill

-piano graduate at University of Michigan in 1901

-Music Faculty member from 1901-1909

-graduate study in Paris

-brilliant pianist

-gave piano lecture recitals throughout Michigan

-accompanist for 300 voice choir

-served twice as National Corresponding Secretary twice as member of national council and was a traveling delegate for one year

*It was Minnie Davis Sherrill who spoke to Elizabeth Campbell of her desire to unite a group of the most earnest and talented girls graduating in the spring of 1903. The two approached Leila Farlin and then the three approached Nora Crane Hunt.
